Two proposal for a strong community building

As a Local Guide on Google Maps, you have the opportunity to contribute valuable information to the wider community. You can share your experiences, photos, and reviews to help others make informed decisions about the places they want to go. But have you ever wanted to connect with other Local Guides in your area or around the world?

One proposal to facilitate this connection is to integrate user IDs and profile links into Google Maps. By enabling users to share their Google profile link and connect link on their social media profiles, we can create a stronger community of Local Guides who can learn from each other and share their experiences.

Furthermore, aggregating multiple email IDs into a single Google Maps profile would improve the Local Guide experience by streamlining the process of managing and submitting contributions. Local Guides would be able to access and manage all of their contributions from one central location, which would make it easier to track their progress, receive recognition, and contribute to the accuracy and completeness of Google Maps.

Imagine being able to connect with other Local Guides in your city, state, or country who have similar interests in exploring new places or trying out different cuisines. You could exchange tips and recommendations, plan meetups to explore new areas, or even collaborate on projects to improve the accuracy and completeness of Google Maps. By linking your user ID to your profile link, other Local Guides could easily view your contributions and history, which would make it easier to provide feedback and recognition.

In addition, by aggregating multiple email IDs into a single Google Maps profile, you can streamline the process of managing and submitting contributions. You no longer have to switch between different accounts or platforms, as you can manage all of your contributions from one central location. This makes it easier to track your progress, view your level of contribution, and prioritize your efforts.

By implementing both proposals, we can create a more seamless and streamlined experience for Local Guides on Google Maps. We can build a stronger community of Local Guides who can learn from each other, share their experiences, and contribute to the accuracy and completeness of Google Maps. We can also streamline the process of managing and submitting contributions, which makes it easier for Local Guides to track their progress and receive recognition for their efforts.

In conclusion, integrating user IDs and profile links into Google Maps and aggregating multiple email IDs into a single profile are proposals that can greatly benefit the Local Guide community. By connecting with other Local Guides and streamlining the contribution process, we can build a stronger, more vibrant community of individuals who share a passion for exploring and discovering new places.

Hi @sayed-farukh

You suggested that sharing the links to our Maps and Connect profiles should be made possible.

This is indeed already possible. Here are your links:

See my Google Maps contributions

See my Connect profile

Feel free to share these on all your social media accounts etc.

Merging more accounts into one is not possible for good reasons. One is that it would become possible to trade contributions. Some actors falsely believe that a level 10 account has more editing power, so I have seen numerous examples of people trying to sell or buy such accounts and contributions. Keep in mind that having more than one Google account signed up for the Local Guides program is a sure way to get kicked from the program.

You can link up with fellow local guides in your area. To protect your privacy it is not possible to reach out directly to individuals via Google Maps. But you can choose to leave some contact information in your maps profile text to allow others to find you.

A lot of local communities already exist. Check Facebook. Many such groups use Telegram or Whatsapp to stay connected.

Should you want to share your other social media IDs feel free to do so. You can create a better signature with clickable links here on Connect. On maps, the links will not be clickable, but you can share them.

I’m looking forward to reading about your collaborations with fellow local guides in Bangladesh.

All the best
