Two-day trip in Monte Verde/South of Minas Gerais

Traveling is certainly one of the most special pleasures in life!

It doesn’t matter how you travel: alone, with friends or with family. Being in contact with other cultures, with other landscapes, new people and new places, makes our hearts warmer and faster with so many emotions.
After four months without traveling, due to the birth of my daughter, we decided to make our first trip with her, and as a local we chose Monte Verde in the south of Minas Gerais.

It is located in the extreme southwest of the state, in Serra da Mantiqueira, 484 km from the capital, Belo Horizonte. It is accessed by Rodovia Fernão Dias, part of BR-381, with the final 30 km (from the county seat to the district) on a steep road. Another access option is the dirt road that connects Monte Verde to the district of São Francisco Xavier, in the municipality of São José dos Campos, state of São Paulo, with access via Rodovia Monteiro Lobato (SP-50).

Monte Verde is a small town, which takes in its daily life a lot of nature, landscapes, accommodation and gastronomy (and, by the way, one food is more delicious than the other).

Monte Verde has a temperate oceanic climate, with mild summers, thanks to the altitude of the Serra da Mantiqueira and the high rainfall of the season. Its winters are cold by Brazilian standards and with a marked decrease in rainfall, with heavy frosts.

For those who live in Brazil and want a pleasant tour, Monte Verde is a great choice, and can be done in two to three days (the city has a zip line, trails and mountain tours, but as I was with a baby, it was not possible to do it. at this moment). And for those who will come to Brazil and want to know a beautiful place, this is a wonderful tip.
