As in September last year, twins were born to me … (two boys …) I would like to write about every year’s twins meeting in Poland.

The Day of Sintered Twins is a great annual convention of twins, triplets and quadrants from all over Poland and abroad, in Czarnków. The holiday is held every year at the end of the summer holidays since 1998.
Where did this intriguing name of the holiday come from?
During the planning of the first event, the organizers came up with the idea that it will be a congress of twins, during which to roast in the bonfire of Wielkopolska “pyry” or potato. That’s where the “parched twin” came from. Others also link this name, with the small and big twins coming to the party at the end of summer, wearing a beautiful, holiday tan. During each congress a street parade is organized under the slogan “Twins the future of the nation”. It is already a tradition that during the celebrations every year there is a competition “Like two drops of water”, which reveals the most similar, twin siblings. The second, traditional attraction is the “Every two heads is not one” quiz. In Czarnków, many attractions and artistic performances await twins and all residents.
101 pairs of twins took part in the congress in 2014, although in previous years this number reached approx. 140 pairs. In 2009, the “Sober Twins Day” received the prize in the “Wielkie discovering Wielkopolska” competition.
Why is the holiday so popular for so many years?
Researchers say that the ties between twins are much stronger than in other siblings. Despite the passage of years, they are not weakening. The congress is an opportunity for a family celebration of this brotherly relationship. Very similar to each other couples, they often share memories when they were mistaken or they could act as brothers or sisters. The Day of Sintered Twins is an opportunity to get to know other twins, exchange experiences and memories. Parents of small children are eager to talk about the upbringing of twin kids. This is the only event of this type in Poland. The last holiday weekend should be the National Christmas of Twins!
