Turn left… your other LEFT!

Hello everyone, last weekend something really curious happened to my family and I while we were getting directions to a parking lot, we were almost arriving and I saw my phone to see where the place was located and to make the last turn, nothing complicated, just had to turn right and then we will have arrived, so I kept looking around and then the voice directions said “Turn Left”.

Immediately I looked at my phone and the route was the same I just saw seconds ago, here’s a screenshot I took, you can clearly see that there is no street to go left (here is a link to the place ins Street View), it’s a walking trail to the main square of the city, I know, this was not a complicated situation but this error can waste your time if it guides you in the wrong direction.

Has this happened to you?

 . @LaloPadilla

This has happened to me a few hundreds of times using the maps. That’s one of the real reasons I enjoy being a local guide.

At least I will help reduce the amount of times that happens around. Proper and accurate information on the maps!!!

What did you do in the end anyway?

Cheers

Haha, I’m dyslexic, and often my wife tells me “turn left” to make me turn right. So maybe you made the setting for “dyslexic users” too.
Ok seriously now, this is weird, @LaloPadilla . But you forgot the link (that of the destination). If you try to set the same navigation again, and explore it “step by step” you will probably be able to replicate the wrong indication as well, and share it

Hi @LaloPadilla

Nice observation. I have seen it only once or twice.

I think you are aware how to provide feedback to Google on the individual steps in a navigation.

Such feedback has been acted upon relatively fast in the past.

Thanks for updating your post and sharing the link to the destination, @LaloPadilla . Everything is clear now.

I’ve tried to replicate your last part of the navigation, and this is my conclusions:

In fact, even if when you reach the corner with Plaza de la Patria you “turn right” this instruction is probably avoided, as you don’t have any other option that turn right as it is the only way available.

The next information that you receive is “Destination will be on the left”, because the parking lot where you want to go is on the left.

To confirm that please check the “step by step” navigation, that is basically what also the voice will say.

What do you think? Can this explain the issue?

Thanks for your comment @SholaIB , this is the second time it has happened to me, the first I was not sure if I heard it right, but this time I am sure and also my family heard the same weird directions. Did you have the same experience?

Dyslexic mode might be useful for a lot of people @ErmesT

Thanks for pointing that out, I have added the link to the parking lot and the Street View link to the place where you can only turn right, I saw the navigation steps and it said that instruction several blocks back and we were going straight <b> when we heard that “turn left” again(as in the first screenshot, it was took seconds after it said “turn left”). Here’s the screenshot with points and , you can practice your spanishCaption: Screenshot of Google Maps App

Thanks @MortenCopenhagen , I didn´t report it, I was busy with other stuff but I’m not sure if it is language related bug, because it previously said turn left, this is the second time it happens to me (first time I was not sure), but this time it really said that instruction completely out of place, of course i will be aware and report it nex time.

You are fast @ErmesT hahaha, I was witing the comments, The last step was “said” too, when we were close to the parking lot we heard “destination place will be on the left” but the instruction we heard while going straight was to make a turn, that’s the strange part.

@LaloPadilla

You can report it now. Just redo the navigation and go to the wrong step and report it from there. No need to leave your house for this.
