Trikala, Central Bridge

The Central Bridge links the central square with the pedestrian street of Asklipios. The bridge was built in 1886 by French mechanics and is made of metal. Until 1996 it was used by cars but since then is used only by pedestrians. You can see the totally green shores of river Lithaios and the statue of Asklipios, the god of medicine during antiquity, a statue made by sculptor Theodoros Vasilopoulos. On the floor of the bridge there are small squares made of glass so that you can see the flow of the river. You could also sit in one of the benches found all along the bridge watching the people, the river, the birds and the trees.

That’s super cool to see the river beneath you through glass! It would be kind of scary to look through though.

In your photo, is that a fountain next to the river?

Thank you very much, the photo shows on the other side of the bridge, yes there is a small technical catcher![Trikala, Central Bridge|1500x1000](upload://3uCCrLEQ4KLK2VfflnZzxJlWUT2.jpeg)
