Trendy & Creative Taiwanese Food - Whip Up

Before my bestie’s Bachelorette Party, I chose this restaurant, Whip Up, for dinner. It’s because in Chinese"罔市(Whip Up)" sounds as “往事(memory)”. We’ve known each other for more than 10 years! I think it’s the best place to celebrate our good times?(p.s. today’s dress code is rainbow.)

I love Taiwanese food a lot. Sometimes, I enjoy night markets or small, traditional, old shops; but not today. Cause we prepared lots of questions for bride-to-be?A big & comfortable place where can sit for a while is a must! However, this restaurant even exceeds our needs - what surprises me the most was the tables they used. The green one is “Mahjong” tables; the wooden one is a traditional game - and you can even play directly. It’s quite retro and classic. I love this idea so much!

We ordered many meals marked with stars on their menu. (check the Chinese & English menu here.) I highly recommend the chicken soup! Others are also great. We’re all satisfied with today’s dishes.

This kind of fried chicken can be easily found at the roadside stalls. We call it 鹹酥雞. This is an upgraded version with juicy chicken and special sauce. Good to try!

You can skip the beef, but this shrimp dish is really good. The sauce is a bit sour, which is perfect for fried foods. I will order this one again next time I come.

I guess this dish was inspired by salted soy milk - you can try one bowl in any traditional soy milk breakfast shop. There is no soy milk in this dish, still tasty but I love original salted soy milk more.? (p.s. Not everyone likes the flavor of salted soy milk. Many taiwanese have never been tried it. Therefore, this dish is maybe a great chance to taste.)

If you want some alcohol, I love 18 Days Taiwan Beer - light, fresh, suitable for salty dishes. Usually, 1 bottle per person is perfect. But, today, 2 bottles in total are enough for us because we’re going to the formal Bachelorette Party later (a.k.a must drunk party). Cheers!?

HI @JoyTsai

Bachelor parties are great at this location! Several friends eat together and chat about the past.
This restaurant has a ancient feel and the dishes are very homely. I am very interested in peeling chili chicken soup. Is it worse in spiciness than normal chicken soup? Or does it have a special taste?

@KyleZhang , thank you for supporting my idea of bachelor party!! Chili chicken soup has a special flavor, not very spicy, but can keep you warm! (one of my friends who can’t eat spicy food also enjoyed it a lot  )
