Trekking to Himalayan Caps

Hello Marg Here, Let me take you to an another amazing place in Northern India. Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj. Both of these cities are in the lap of Himalayas. It’s home to his highness Dalai Lama. It’s amazing place to kill the summer in India hence you can call it summer home to our foreign tourists.

How to reach

  • There is direct Bus service from ISBT Delhi to Dharamshala. State Run buses as well deluxe and air conditioned Volvos by various agencies.
  • By trains Well, it’s hilly area so there is no direct rail connectivity. You can choose nearest railway stations which again has road driving of approax 3 hrs making journey even longer.
  • By Air . Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj are in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. The only airport is in this district known as Kangra Gaggal Airport. It’s hardly 10kms away from Dharamshala and Mcleodganj.

What to See/Do

  • It’s full of adventurous stuff plus this place is super peaceful and blessed with great natural beauty. You have bagful of activities to do here.
  • Paragliding
  • Sight seeing
  • Trekking
  • Visiting Monasteries
  • Awesome Cafes
  • Visiting one of the highest and most beautiful Cricket Stadium in the world
  • and the last but not least Food :yum:

Trekking to Triund
Trekking to Triund is one of the major attractions of McLeod Ganj. It’s an 8-9Km long trek, half of it is pretty ok but last 40% of the trek is inclined and long. But don’t get discouraged you will see plenty of tourists going up and plenty of little stalls serving you tea and snacks on your way to top. And when you reach the top your every gram of pain will be redeemed. It’s a camping and over night stay there. So prepare well and relish every bit of it. You will witness stunning snow laden Himalayas. There will be food and bonfire. People making it amazing trekking ever.

Budget : It can be very inexpensive believe me. Costs almost nothing to reach there and hire an economic hotel as you won’t be staying but roaming whole day it’s beautiful out there.

Tips : Don’t forget to plan your journey using Google Maps and also download Offline Gmaps of Dharmashala and Mcleodganj as it’s hilly area network will be patchy atop. If it’s your first journey to hilly area then you will be in naseauting state throughout the travelling so be cautious with food intake before embarking. Till Chandigarh it’s smooth sailing, last 3-4 hrs needs to be handled.
