Recently around 2,141 trees were chopped down in the Aarey colony area of Mumbai city. The place is also known as the city’s lungs. The trees were cut down to clear the site for the construction of the Mumbai metro project. Even though many protests were held against cutting off this green gold the project was approved by the high court.
Disappointed by this action YouTuber Saiman Says started a project called TREE SENA to plant double the amount of trees that were cut down. The project was funded by public donations and support from his fan army known as ‘Say Sena’ and the organization ‘Mission Green Mumbai’.
The first tree plantation meet-up was held on 5th January 2020 at the Chota Kashmir Park in the Aarey colony. I was glad to attend the meetup with my friends. It was truly a joyful experience as I felt satisfaction for my little contribution towards our mother nature.
