TravelRun ~ I’m a running addict and running around the world is in my bucket list, even thou not yet fulfilled.
Thank God and Google for helping me alot with my running journeys, as they gave such a great and detail information about the place I want to run in at.
Due to Covid-19 had beaten us to self quarantine, we have to skip Borobudur Marathon 2020 (Bormar) and other race in Indonesia. Which means, Traveling also cancelled … Oh noo.
Remembering Borobudur Marathon 2019, as they took the name from one of 7 wonders in Indonesia, the race was held in Borobudur Temple, Magelang - Central Java, Indonesia. This prestigious race attracted
people around the world. Not just Local, but foreign runners were joined this event on the last Bormar 2019.
Magelang became the most crowded city at that time, from hotel to hostel, from cafe to restaurant were fully booked. Need an hour flight from Jakarta to reach Jogjakarta, and an hour drive from Jogjakarta to Borobudur, Magelang, and few months booked before the race.
The best tips for join Marathon in other city / countries, find the nearest Hotel from the Start line. I wouldn’t have found it without Google Maps, so thanks a bunch Google. The best and available hotel at that time were about 1 km from start Line, lucky to have the room.
We stayed in Khanaya Hotel and Cafe, the room was beyond expectation.
Huge, neat, affordable and of course fit for my family. The swimming pool just besides the river, and the night view of the hotel were stunning. Don’t worry about your tummy, the cafe has all your tummy needs.
The best yet to come, the race it self brought me so many beautiful memories. The people who cheered us, the every village we ran thru, and the mountains view while we ran, the rivers, also ‘Tanjakan Cinta’ the worst incline yet fun for runners. It is truly amazing.
Traveling and running in Magelang definitely a good choice. Before the race, the scenery pampered your eyes with its beauty, and after the race get going to Jogjakarta for its culinary. Such a great TravelRun I experienced, and craving some more.
