Travelling as a path to diversity and community

I always dreamed about traveling all around the world. I cannot forget my first international trip when I was 20yo, back in June 2016. I had everything I need to my travel plans: Google Maps, camera and my pesos argentinos. Oh yeah! I remember starting to figure out what to do in Buenos Aires by exploring Maps and taking screenshots of the places I would like to know (ok, I admit I was a noob and couldn’t mark places at the time). What was most important for me was reading to comments and reviews which were (and still are) the drivers of a decision to me regarding where I should go. By Maps I got to knew MilHouse, a hostel which I had so much fun in the parties and met AWESOME people from different nationalities who are my friends since then.

Ok, in less than 3 years I had the opportunity to visit 14 countries. That’s amazing - my dream is becoming true! But, I got to the point I figured out that my dream wasn’t never travel itself, but make friends in different places all around the world. I realized my real dream was all about meet new people.

I often travel by myself, but I never get alone. I always make dozen of friends, literally. The coolest thing is that it happens to meet them again when visiting their own countries. I LOVE THAT! All memories are shared with a large glass of wine.

But the point is - meaningful connections push diversity forward and it enables the creation of communities. Some people can refer to diversity only thinking about sexual option, gender, race etc. What many people forget is to think about cultural and diversity of thoughts. Different backgrounds, different cultures and experiences when combined have the power to build a strong community of citizens of the world (that’s what I call myself).

That is the most important thing for me, that is all about traveling for me. Traveling is a mean to the end - which is community, real people.
