I really like google maps and the local guides service basically because of these two reasons, the precise location of the small business and the possibility of you getting to know a place without leaving home.
It is very rewarding when you are in a small town and you see that even in these places, the location of the small business is accurate, for example, if you need a supermarket, you will find, including photos. Today there are many other location services on the market, but with that precision I doubt it.
The other point I liked is that you can get to know the places or plan your trip in your house, because with the guides and photos of the local guides you can understand much more about the place you want to go, information such as the opening hours and the price is there, no matter if it is a big tourist place like the Eiffel tower or a small business like the nearest gas station.
That’s why maps are so important because they make life easier for people.
