After traveling to China from Guangzhou to Shenzhen I will compile a little guide for using Google services.
If you don’t know China has blocked a majority of websites and apps :
Google Maps, Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Whatsapp, Youtube etc.

DOWNLOAD before you reach China a VPN service either for mobile or for PC/Mac**,** you can use any of the biggest, I already had installed NordVpn but I was surprised that it did not work at first
, I needed some extra steps to configure it and it was hard to send them a support ticket because it was blocked. -
Send the VPN provider a ticket requesting instructions of using their services in CHINA.
I suggest you have 2 VPN providers just in case, if you do this you will have a 80% chance to connect to VPN, some WiFi networks will not work at all, don’t despair if it will not connect the first time, I usually tried 3-5 times and it worked.
If you are buying a Sim card, China Telecom is ok to use the VPN, I didn’t get blocked, some users signaled that the provider can block your access if you are using VPN.
