We are a big family, and the best and most practical way for us to travel has always been by car. As years went by, we developed a real passion for such travel and for exploring places along the way. Especially that we are a Russian-Slovak family so we drive long distances, living in two countries: from Moscow to the Ural Mountains in the east, and all the way down to the Black Sea, and then to the west, to Slovakia, Austria, and Czech Republic, and down to the Balkans and Adriatic Sea.
What I love posting on Google Maps is places of natural beauty such as mountains, and caves, and waterfalls as well as historical places such as old towns, castles, and fortresses. I am really fascinated with such places, I feel part of the human history when I look at hundreds (sometimes thousands!) year-old stones, walls, towers, and ruins. On the other hand, natural sites are such a source of inspiration, their beauty is so uplifting! And many times these two go together, and that’s the best: finding historical buildings hidden away in the nature. That’s why many of my posts on Google Maps are about castles and fortresses hidden in the mountains. This turned out to be the best adventure for us: driving to new places, hiking, getting to know our history. The excitement is intoxicating. By the way, this also keeps you fit! 
I found many tips on Google Maps to be quite helpful in our journey so I felt I should also contribute. I feel we should share this more so that we appreciate and care for the planet on which we live more and enjoy it.
