Traveling A Panam City In Bangladesh

Panam is an old city in Bangladesh that is full of amazing designs and carvings. It is a symbol of the country’s past and it is a very beautiful place. Mohsin Reza Rupam (Bhai) and I went there during our training at NIMC and want to share our experience with you.

It is located in Sonargaon, Narayanganj district, near Dhaka, Bangladesh. Each home is filled with an innovative flair in terms of usability, craftsmanship, use of color, and construction techniques. Cast-iron brackets, ventilators, and window grills are used with brick. The floor has red, white, and black mosaic work.

Almost every house has a blue and white print between the arch and the roof. Besides, the design and cast iron work in the houses are perfect. Experts believe that these cast iron works are equivalent to European works. Along with this, there is the transformation of ceramic tiles. Every house is divided into two parts - indoor and outdoor. Most of the houses have open courtyards inside the enclosure. The main feature of Panama City’s urban planning is that lakes or canals surround it.

Historical Panam Nagar is located in the Sonargaon police station of Narayanganj district, near Dhaka. In the 15th century, Isha Khan established the first capital of Bengal at Sonargaon. This city has been built over about 20 square kilometers of Sonargaon. In 2006, Panam Nagar was included in the list of 100 endangered historical structures created by the World Monument Fund. Pankhiraj Canal surrounds Panam City on all four sides. The Pankhiraj canal joins the Meghna river, called the Menikhali river. Meghna river is on the east side of Panam city, and Shitalakshaya is on the west side. Muslin was exported through this river.

We are all busy and hardworking in the struggle of life, and when you-I get tired of the many tasks of this life struggle, we want company; when we don’t find anyone near, we share our moments with a cup of tea or coffee, which is something in the real moment. We can’t give, yet we want to take pleasure, spread ourselves, and that story is a great moment to spread my journey.

Through solo, team, or group travel, we can know, learn and enrich ourselves about our country’s history, heritage, and culture.

My message for those who are thirsty for travel, the total distance from the capital Dhaka to Panam Nagar is 27 km which is 0.5 km from Sonargaon Folk and Crafts Foundation Museum. Can look forward, and know about our history, heritage culture, inform the new generation.
