A little update when planning on places to visit the USA in the near future.
Most National parks are open. Here is a link to the U.S. Government National Park service website so you can check the status on all National Parks in the USA. A National park is one run by the Federal Government. There are many many fantastic “State” parks. State parks are not listed on this link.
State parks may or may not be open, and many have hours that change due to season and weather.
State parks are usually smaller, which is a good thing. From history to local fauna State Parks focus on what really is local to the area. Do not overlook them… they are great !!!

Covid in the USA will be a problem. Get your covid tests and keep a certified copy with you.
Travel:There are less flights available via domestic air travel, but the prices are lower… Look for bargains.
I " STRONGLY" suggest you buy your airline tickets directly from the actual airline, and not a “travel” service or Agent.
Some travel agencies are having financial troubles now, and will not be able to assist you if your have a problem.
The same goes for Hotels. Book hotels with the actual Hotel owner. Call the hotel you are planning to go to and discuss price with the hotel at the location you are planning to visit. You can work out a cheaper price than using the web site that covers every hotel they own in the world.
With Covid on the raise in the USA - check for local restrictions with the web site of the State you are visiting, and the US “Department of :homeland security” for updated restrictions.
Many Americans go for road trips instead of flying. We may not have the places to see that are as old as the rest of the world, but each state has places to see, and things to do…
So Road trips are a great idea and many Americans are doing this instead of flying to one place and being limited to what that city has to offer.
In the USA petrol is very cheap. ( About usd$2.05 per US gallon or about USD 0.60 per Litre )
It costs a little more in the major in the major US Cities. So fill up when outside city limits
Also right now you can rent a big auto or van cheaply so on a road trip is a good way to see a section of the country and avoid airports, dirty Taxis, and crowded airport shuttle buses.

I am not a city person. When I travel I only stay in a big city on arrival and on departure day. I can usually take in a some city event on one of those days. In New York. I went to the theater, I
In San Diego I went to the zoo, in Philadelphia I took in a mice walk around independence square.
In Charleston SOuth Carolina I took in the historic sites and then drove inland 50 KM just to see the county side and experience how people lived there. ) Great food here )
In Key west Florida. A 1/2 day fishing trip and then some scuba. ( no beach here )
In Destin Florida. Just beach. Nothing else but cheap tourist things. ( family place )
In New Orleans - Eat Drink ( if you do that) and eat some more. GREAT food. You can see the famous area on a 5 minute walk… Then you are done.
In Houston Texas. - Just avoid it. There is nothing to do here but change planes.
In Memphis - A night life city down town but stay downtown. It is a good place to drive FROM if you are changing planes. You can drive to Nashville in 3.5 hours and see some great National parks along the way.
