Travel Like a Local in Bangkok's Chao Phraya River

At least as a tourist, you may want to travel from Sathorn Pier to Tha Chang Pier (the disembarking pier for the tourist going to Grand Royal Palace). So how do you do that like a local traveller?

Look for the Orange Flag Boat. Do not go to the Tourist Boat because that’s a special trip. Upon arrival at Sathorn Pier (if you are riding a BTS Train, you will go down from Saphan Taksin Station and just walk to the pier station). This how the pier at Sathorn will look like:

You will only pay 14 Baht. The Tourist Flag Rate is 150 Baht. Imagine the difference? Here’s the orange flag sign:

From Sathorn Pier to Tha Chang Pier, that’s only about 20 Minutes. Along with your travel on the river, you see already see the beautiful buildings of Bangkok. Travel early in the morning to see the sun’s reflection just like this:

Here we are, on the line…

You can go down to ICONSIAM Pier if you want and take a photo, or have a separate trip for that.

But I’m sure you will want to allot a separate time for this.

Another separate destination that you may want to include on your itinerary is the Wat Arun. I will have a separate post on this. It is mesmerizing. It is beautiful.

When you already see the above sign, time to disembark. But there are many passengers going there so you will surely go down here and not pass by.

And there you go, you just arrived at your destination. The very popular Royal Grand Palace. What an Amazing Thailand!

Thank you for sharing these great tips with us, luckily I got the chance to travel along the Chao Praya River two years ago and I really enjoyed it. It took me two days to finished all of the sightseeing along the river, did you manage visit all of the place along the river?

In addition to that, I will change your topic label to the travel topic, where it will fit best.
