Travel is about Connection

The rambunctiousness of life often distracts us from what is most important. We run so fast we forget to stop and take a pause to enjoy the people, culture, lifestyle, and beauties that surround us. Our mantra the past several months has been about reconnecting with the people that matter most in places far and close to home. The incredible factors of life are that we can choose to connect, create incredible memories and overcome the challenges of life with an attitude that drives us forward to greater heights. Consider these as you venture out and explore life with those who matter most. Consider this approach:

  • Get out of the house. There isn’t anything more refreshing than a cool walk in the park, a hike up a small or “big” hill, or a jog next to a lake or bike ride around the neighborhood. Realize that getting out of the house gets you away from chores, dishes and picking up “constantly”. You have to get out to get started. Then the world is your oyster, however, close or far from home you get.
  • Find simple things to do. As mentioned above, fulfillment doesn’t necessarily come from climbing Mt. Everest, unless that’s your thing, but getting out is a start to a new adventure. Recently we took a weekend trip to a place 25 minutes away from home. We took bikes, climbing gear, and our tennis shoes and had the most fantastic weekend. It was simple, easy and “close to home”. Don’t overcomplicate it. Just go!
  • Simple joys in simple things. Remind yourself of the small and simple things that bring you happiness. Look at the colors, take in the smells, feel the breeze and listen to the sounds. The joy comes from many things beyond just seeing one more thing or checking one more thing of the ever-growing “bucket list”. You are you because you choose to do great things. Create your own opportunities and grow with them because of the simple joys you find in them.
  • Don’t wait for someone else to decide. Go for what you want. Your energy, your effort, your will power will make your adventures. You can do this, you just have to believe in yourself and the spontaneity. Sometimes you will have to forget the plan. Enjoy the random rainstorms, lean into the wind and take it all in stride.

At the end of the day. Adventure and fulfillment come from you connecting first with yourself and then with those around you that you care about the most. Enjoy these moments together, find many of them and push through those fears that may be holding you back.

You are incredible. We are incredible. Let’s find the incredible within and the connection, enjoyment, and fulfillment will serve us well.
