Travel Guide: A place to live with nature and find peace! >> Auroville, Pondicherry, India

This year in mid July, I went to visit Auroville. There are many places to stay in Auroville which I will describe after the first photo.

Auroville is an experimental community in southern India, was founded in 1968 by the spiritual leader Mirra Alfassa (AKA The Mother) as a town where people from all over the world could live in harmony. Its focal point is the Matrimandir, a futuristic, spherical temple covered in gold discs. Auroville Botanical Gardens protects the region’s tropical dry evergreen forest. Auroville Beach is a long sandy stretch with gentle surf.

So, as I said, there are many places to stay in Auroville, but finding space is very hard. You have to book earlier. To book a place in Auroville you can visit https://www.auroville.org/. When I went there, at first I wanted to choose a nice and comfy place to stay, but everything was booked except EVERGREEN GUEST HOUSE. This place changed my mind later on and gave me a heavenly experience.

You may imagine by the name “Evergreen” how the place will look like, yes indeed this place is located inside a forest and all the living places are Tree Houses. Real tree house without doors and windows, just covered with grass and some clothes. They have solar electricity for night which will help you to operate a fan, a small light and charge your phone. (Please do not try to charge more than 1 device at night, cause it will consume all solar energy. I did this mistake and by 1am, I consumed all the energy and everyone stayed without electricity!!!)

They have natural shower system and toilet (definitely enclosed). Also they have a beautiful swimming pool. To go to the swimming pool, you have to cross a small path where you will meet thousands of beautiful butterflies. They will fly with you and sometime you have to make sounds to make your path clear ;-). One of the magnificent view you can ever have.

  • How to go there?
  • There are only 2 flights go there, 1 from Hyderabad, and another from Bangalore. Both of them are SpiceJet.So, if you want to visit this place,
  • book a flight from either of these 2 cities and then
  • take a cab from Airport to Auroville Visitors Center.
  • Take rest, look around and go to the information center to book a HUT / Tree House in Evergreen Guest House. They will assist you. The cost will be 300 RS/night
  • If you stay more than 1 days, try to rent a bicycle from Auroville Visitors Center

Visit https://www.auroville.org/ for more information!

Note: This place is dry, keep water with you. Try to blend in with the nature, you will find peace.
