!!Travel, click, share and repeat!! That’s my way of saying I am a Local Guide. Yooohoooooo!!
Hi! This is Archit, a Level 8 Local Guide!! As a part of sharing let me take you through this amazing journey of being a Local Guide.
I joined this program around 3 years back when Mr. Google started asking me to write reviews and post photos for the places I visited. Since then, I started uploading photography and posting rating reviews on Google Maps, not routinely but whenever I felt like sharing something. It makes a huge difference while knowing that photography or reviews you uploaded are really being viewed and helping people. Isn’t it amazing? It’s also become my motivation to contribute on Google Maps.
A major event which made this thing precious for me was the day I landed in Japan for my new job. Starting right from the airport till today the photos, suggestions and reviews have helped me a lot.
When you are in a new country with unknown language you need someone to help you everyday. Google Maps turned out to be my travel buddy.
My first pics after coming to Japan.
I have always loved food. My first search on maps for a vegan restaurant gave me this.
Google Maps have always come to my rescue, from exploring quaint little towns in the small parts of Japan or going on walking tours in buzzing cities like Tokyo to finding my way through the amazing north Japan.
There have been times when I have ended up at cafes that were closed or places which were miles away from my destination. This made me conscious of the importance of the little pieces of information and I started fixing them.
Be it work, leisure, clubs, restaurants or trains Google maps have always been a great help in finding my way. I understood from my experience that adding information to maps is so crucial that people sometimes depend on you for their daily activities.
Here are a few of the pics I added to maps.
I can help people make decisions, be it for choosing the right café for a first date or exploring little lanes in a new place. So, I feel my role in increasing the reliability of Maps goes a long way in making people feel safe, secure and a lot more confident in exploring new things.
The added advantage - my monthly summary about the progress I made, "your reviews making a difference ", “thanks for your recent photos” and also the badges makes me happy about these small but worthy contributions. And when I get together with my brother we compare our levels and contributions in a friendly competition. We always argue over the count of views, badges, levels and this enthusiasm drives me to unlock more of Google’s targets and badges!
