I have always believed that dreams are like airplane wings. They bring us closer to our destination. When it comes to travel, dreams are the bucket list of places that we can safely carry in our adventurous minds.
Do you know what else is appealing about dreams? They tend to inspire others. For this reason, I want to share with you my personal bucket list. Apart from places to visit, it also includes activities to look forward to. With it, I hope to encourage you to share your lists and give you an extra dose of joy and enthusiasm.
Canada is the second-largest country in the world, rich in natural beauty. As a Local Guide, I have explored many of its landmarks, but I have yet to set foot on the Canadian Rocky Mountains, or more specifically, in Banff National Park.
Activity to look forward to: The combination of the glacier water of the Moraine Lake with the Canadian Rocky Mountains lurking on the horizon is simply breathtaking. My heart skips a beat by just imagining the experience of canoeing on the lake. It would be a dream come true.
2. Hobbiton Movie Set, New Zealand
Have you ever seen the movie “The Hobbit”? If not, you should! Though I am warning you, you might want to visit New Zealand right away. Hobbits do not exist, but this place should be enough to make you feel like a part of something magical.
Activity to look forward to: While watching “The Hobbit,” I had this fantasy of jumping into the screen. Well, I would not be able to do that in a literal way, but I do aim to tour the Hobbiton Movie Set and enter the world of fantasy.
3. Tromsø, Norway
For a long time, I have been fascinated by the Nordic countries, their location, mysterious energy, and winters. I wish to visit many Scandinavian cities, and Tromsø is on top of the list. There is a special appeal to it, being surrounded by mountains covered with blankets of snow. A coziness I long to get close to, like a home away from home.
Activity to look forward to: I couldn’t miss out on the opportunity of watching the northern lights. It would be the show of a lifetime.
4. Machu Picchu, Peru
I am a big fan of history, hiking, and watching the sunrise on a grand horizon. Machu Picchu is the destination offering all of these.
Activity to look forward to: The hike to Machu Picchu would be a journey in itself, but once I get there, I would want to just rest on one of the rocks as I gaze over it. Its ancient history and trails left by the Inca civilization are an enigma, which I hope to get close to. If it’s allowed, I would also love to stay an entire night and welcome the sunrise there.
5. Bali, Indonesia
Bali is already quite a popular tourist destination. However, I would love to visit this tropical paradise. When I think of Bali, I imagine all the majestic sunsets I could enjoy as I soak my feet in the warm ocean water and feel the gentle caress of the soft sand.
Activity to look forward to: I am certainly looking forward to going on the Bali Swing. Can’t have an adventure without some thrill, right?
Have you been to any of the places I listed? Do you have any tips or suggestions? I would love to read them in the comments below, together with your own bucket list.
