So Google when you pay for Gsuite seems to restrict you from using all of the free features that are available to free users so I have decided to stop paying for Gsuite and just open a free account and forward my emails to the gmail address. The problem is i have like 7 years worth of local points gathered for my account, it is really disappointing that there is no way to have google approve how I am and transfer the data to my new account. Am I going to lose all that hard work. And if so I really don’t want to help anymore if that’s the case. Life changes and things change and the fact that google ignore this is frustrating. Please tell me there is a way for a user to migrate Local Points to a new account… anyone at Google are you listening if you want people to help you and give you free data help us a little?
I am sorry about that, but actually there is no way to transfer the contributions in Google Maps from one account to another one.
Gsuite is usually is usually a business account, and, as Local Guide is a program for individuals only, I always suggest to use a simple Gmail account for Local Guides. Also, using two accounts is against the program rules. and to transfer data you should have two Local Guides account .
BTW, as the request is coming frequently, why not to suggest Google to create a “migration procedure”?
Idea exchange is here just for this kind of proposal
Hi @MrCaspan . Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, as @ErmesT already let you know we cannot transfer contributions from one account to another and maintaining two accounts is against the program rules.
There is something you can do though. You can download your data by going to your Google Account, then to Personal info and Privacy. Click on Control your content and just follow the instructions to manage exactly what to download. After that delete your contributions in Google Maps so they don’t duplicate once you start crafting them in the new account.
Please note that if you don’t delete your old contributions from the account you do not intend using they will just look like spam and this may lead to alerting our filters.
I’m sorry about your poor experience and I hope you find these suggestions useful.
Hello @ErmesT
while this is generally correct, please also consider, that Google explicitly marketed G suite (back then google apps for your domain) to individual customers, especially families. These customers have been using Google products (especially maps timeline and local guide program) just like individual customers. Unfortunately, now, Google discontinues this service without possibilities to keep the history/status built up over >10years.
Best.
