I don’t write usually in LocalGuidesConnect because I prefer to spend time creating content that can be used from all users.
I live in an area that needs tourism and I feel an active part in creating a “best guide for tourists”.
I know I’m not the person who can best communicate some things, so I prefer to be a content creator!
Google give us many tools to make everyday life easier, both in terms of communication and in terms of “support” and I really like creating content to make this tool more complete, but I also love trying them as an end user!
Tomorrow I will leave for a trip to a distant land (and I also want to tell this on Local Guides Connect, I will try to summarize it in a post to describe how I used Google to “save myself”) and I will completely rely on technology to “have easy life” and don’t get lost in Japan!
I am Italian, I speak English (not 100% but enough to communicate) and I do not speak a word of Japanese: I will spend 15 days in Japan in a “do it yourself” trip without a turist operator.
I have already identified all the best places that I want to visit thanks to Google Maps (I used an old technology, My Maps!) and I’m sure a tourist can do the same thing coming to Italy, in my land, the Valnerina.
This is my map for the first days in Japan

This instead is the map of the ideal points to visit my land

What’s the difference?
In Japan I want to see commercial places.
In my land people also want to be in contact with nature.
Then? How can it be done?
It is necessary not to create only points to share, but the ideal would be to have the routes, like those that could be created on Google My Maps. Now with the lists of points of interest you can’t. I know that My Maps has not been closed, but I see that it has not been updated for some time.

I try to map these roads in a virtual way to show them on Google Maps so that I can guide tourists who are not familiar with the path, but unfortunately Google does not always allow these features to be properly linked to “mobile” use.
Through Google Maps desktops are used very well, but with Google Maps mobile you can’t always find the path.
You need to use the Street View application but very few users install this app.
Google is still creating better tools in this sense, and the addition of altitude in the tracks is certainly excellent!
What to say? I put all my effort into creating content, I really hope these are as useful as I would like!
Bye, Emanuele
