TRAC - How likely is this to happen? Editing a map

Dear LGC friends

and TRAC enthusiast,

I wanted to share something with you that is highly improbable or statistically very, very unlikely. While I was making some edit to the roads in the Zafarobod district (Tajikistan), I noticed that, thanks to the new “orange dotted lines,” someone else had started “working” on exactly the same area, and at the same time as me.

I asked about it in the TRAC Unofficial chat and found out that the person making changes simultaneously was** @NareshDarji **.

What are the odds that someone from Italy could virtually meet someone from India in … Tajikistan?

It’s incredible and amusing.

Enjoy

Marco

I love it

It’s a small world after all.

I don’t take credit for the song or video.

Cheers

Morten

PS @ErmesT might have noticed how I have intruded with edits in some of his areas (for learning purposes only) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

my dear @MortenCopenhagen

You’re always one step ahead. Wonderful video and song!

Thanks a lot for this few minutes of happiness .

PS I’m sure that if you make edits next to @ErmesT 's areas he will notice.

Enjoy

@MarcoDavoli It’s very interesting experience. I saw orange roads drawn by someone else in my working area but not verified who was that. Perhaps it was drawn by one of the TRAC teammates  .

It is very common for me to virtually meet others during my mapping activity, @MarcoDavoli , even if I never asked about who is editing the same area, so it is very possible that I also met you, @MortenCopenhagen .

In fact this is one of the reasons for me to write "Handle with care: Changes in the Road Editor and how to handle them "

The “edited by someone else” information can potentially end in starting cooperation between Local Guides in mapping the same area in a safe way, avoiding the duplication of the edits. It can also be used to learn more about how the AI is approving our edits. If you look at the cover image of the post mentioned above, you can see a single edit that, even if technically correct, will never be approved. I had just to wait a few weeks for that edit to be rejected, and then I restarted to map the area, that has now all the roads :grinning: .

I love that video, Morten. In fact I will have to start soon to edit my personal version of It’s a small world after all. I have just to find the time to put together all the pieces recorded by me inside that incredible attraction, probably the one that I loved more during the visit in Disneyland Tokyo

@MarcoDavoli I’ve seen those new “orange dotted lines,” sometimes when i go back to areas I’m working on, but never checked to see who the other person was, Usually the timing is completely different with dates from a month or two ago, but poorly drawn and not likely to get approved. Just presenting an obstacle to me getting further ahead with my chosen area.

In this case, it is a small or digital world! Thanks for sharing this.

Maybe our edits can collaborate to make the Zafarobod district roads the most accurate on Google Maps! @MarcoDavoli
