Hello Guys, This is the first post I write here so I hope it wont be boring or too long…
I think we all agree google maps is a good step forward for humanity, making life easier and soon enough it will be far more great help to all of us that we wouldn’t imagine how life was without it, Local Guides of course are in the heart of this process so in some way we all are part of this technical revolution to connect this planet…
Yet there is this part of being a local guide that is very important and needs to be looked at from a different angle, Local guides in touristic destinations… I live in a touristic city “Sharm el Sheikh” in Egypt.
And it gets thousands of tourists every week, so as a guy who lives here I know there is some business owners who depend on the fact that the guest is already changing every week with new people so some of them doesn’t care so much about improving their service or at least making it good enough and just count on the looks of their place that attracts clients or counting on their cheap prices… so it is us the local guides who guide many of the tourists who are not even from this country and first time here to understand the difference between one shop or company and the other which kinda killing the businesses that are counting on almost scamming depending on the fact that this guest is leaving within a week and I know I’m not getting them again anyway.
So I think its our duty to put our review and put the new places on the map so we can make life easier to someone else and give the motive to business owners to improve their services.
Not just because we are positive, in that case I just talked about we do that to save someone’s holiday.
I just hope Google would add a system some how to make it easier for people to connect with trusted local guides regarding to the areas they are in. and of course if the local guide agrees to be connected to people who need advise about their destination.
