Have you ever come across something related to Local Guides or Maps, but it wasn’t worth creating a new topic for it and it didn’t fit in with any existing topics?
It happens to me all the time. Subscribe to this topic so you don’t miss what other Guides are sharing.
So please when you find something unusual that you’d like to share on Connect, please add it to this topic.
I’ll start it off. A Guide that I follow posted a photo of the Louvre Museum. His photo has over 2.5 million views. (The Louvre has over 2.6 million photos) So I decided to go to the Louvre’s Map profile. I found that it has as the first photo in their gallery this very cool immersive view 3D photo. I’ve never seen anything like this before on Maps. You won’t see it on desktop Maps, only from a mobile device. Here is a screen recording of what it looks like:
The video is posted by the museum itself and not a local guide. I have no idea about how you would create such a thing. Maybe somebody else in the group knows?
I looked around a bit. It seems like a legitimate business but the pin location is definitely wrong. Maybe it is supposed to be on the other side of the highway? I are you going to try and figure it out? Definitely random. Thanks for sharing.
@TravellerG , for the work we did together on the food video challenge, getting to know you a little, and many kind appreciations you have sent me.
Thank you to the guides who have helped make this forum so much fun for me.
I have really enjoyed getting to know guides from all over the world and appreciate the friendly and warm acceptance you have offered me.

Merry Christmas to you all and I hope you have a great new year in everything you do.
Thanks for the shout out @Rednewt74 , and I feel the same about almost all the names you’ve tagged in this post. Just one name I didn’t recognize there, and another one I know but haven’t really interacted with.
Let’s continue to learn from each other as we go into a new year. Best wishes to you.
Danke das kann ich nur zurückgeben. Deine Erklärungen waren sehr gut und hilfreich. Es ist schön Menschen kennen zu lernen die nicht nur sich selbst sehen sondern anderen helfen. Danke nochmals und schöne Festtage
I’m so glad you are feeling better and active again in the Forum. Your post on reviewing and removing under performing photos was truly transformative for me. My av views have gone from 9,000 in April to over 25,000 now.
Merry Christmas and Happy Guiding in the New Year.
It was fun encouraging you as you began, and amazing to see how high you have soared! We have such different approaches to Guiding and yet appreciate the strengths that we each bring to the LG community.
Thank you for the shout-out @Rednewt74 . I’m glad my long-winded way of writing is considered expressive in a positive way .
It’s been fun sharing Pixel info with you this year and learning quite a lot about video and editing from you. If I can find a way to port over Photosphere to the Pixel 8, I think I can get you to convert. I did some testing with the new Video Boost yesterday morning - it’s HDR for video - I think you’d be a fan …
The posts by @Rednewt74 always raise new points and keep me focused on this Maps platform. I would definitely be more often off than on, if it wasn’t for the interaction here on Connect and the Leaderboards by @AdamGT .
Aw you are just too kind @Rednewt74 . I love how helpful you’ve been, i.e. sharing tips and tricks on taking photos and videos, and also how you cheer others on.
