Tostones - Caribbean Fried Plantain

Tostones; this the basic receipt of the use of the Plantain. It is a smash and fried plantain. Once is fried you can salted, or mixed with a garlic oil. Plantain look like a banana, but it is not. As I mentioned in one of my other post; Puerto Rico culinary dishes are influence by Tainos, Spain., and Africa. As Google on internet, Plantain arrived in Puerto Rico by the Africans.

You can eat Tostones, by itself, or you can filled with shrimps, counch, octopus. Enjoy.

@ Nosaint2 are delicious! … here in Cartagena, Colombia, we call them patacones and they are introduced into water where there is diluted garlic, salt and sometimes lemon; We frequently accompany them with cheese and they are part of the Cartagena breakfast.
