Yay!
By changing the title image that had been inserted with the “img” tag so that it is directly pasted in the comment field of the connect, I confirmed that the title image became adopted as the thumbnail of the table of contents page for each category.
Thanks for sharing the details on the matter and letting us know about it! : ]
Just to be sure, as having checked from the video you have shared in one of the most recent replies, the link you have generated that leads to the photo (in the HTML draft) would be taken as the steps (Google Photos > Pick and tap on the photo > Right click > Copy photo URL or Copy Image address), correct?
I think it’s more interesting to show the operation procedure on video than to write an explanation of the operation method in words.
Then, I want to freely operate the thumbnail of the category top page.
The reason to use the cumbersome method of uploading to Google Photos and then quoting the URL in CONNECT is that there is a limit of 1000 photos that can be pasted to CONNECT.
We use Google Photos as a workaround. That way, you don’t consume Connect resources.
Until two months ago, the image attached in this way was also used as the thumbnail of the category top page.
Two months ago, the behavior of Connect seemed to change.
I also hope that photos from Google Photos will be available again as thumbnails.
See my video or the instructions below for specific steps to use Google Photos.
My feeling is that this is a side effect of the introduction, requested by a lot of people, of the emoji. When the emoji were introduced, the results was that the previews of the posts, and the main page, was populated mostly by them (quite unfair)
Consequently, the option to use also an embedded image as “the cover image” of the posts was removed.
My hope is that on the future we will have the possibility to choose which image we want to use as a “cover”
I’m sorry but I am unable to understand what you are demonstrating in this and the other video you posted on the same topic. I wish you would explain with a few words also.
I’m trying to get the photo show up as the cover photo. But I can’t. First I thought that the smiley could not be before the photo (as a fix to @JanVanHaver 's earlier complaint about smileys should not become cover photos).
But changing the order does not help.
So if I could understand how you get to the settings Allow/disallow as cover-photo maybe I could fix the problem.
Thanks @ErmesT for the detailed explanation.
Certainly, it is inconvenient that only the first image is used for the title image. I look forward to furthering improvements.
