Hi everybody! I am Kateřina Dvořáková, young student living in Olomouc! Let me show you our beautiful town!
I think that first place, you must see, is Horní náměstí (it is main square), because it is centre of the town with town hall.
Do you know Prague Astronomical Clocks? Yes! We have one in our town too. But this clock are not too old like that one in Prague. They were built in 15th century. But current form is from 1955 in the socialist realism style.
From the astronomical clock you can see Holy Trinity Column, which is situated in corner of square. The Holy Trinity Column is on UNESCO list. This impressive column was built between 1716 to 1754. The main purpose was to celebrate the Catholic Church and faith.
Nearby Horní náměstí is St. Wenceslas Cathedral. It is a big Dom, which you must see.I think somebody who is reading my article, that she or he likes nature like me. Are you nature lover like me? In Olomouc there are 2 parks - Bezručovy and Smetanovy sady. If you like roses you must go to the Bezručovy sady. Here Rosarium is situated. It is a garden with roses from around the world and open from April to October, all week (expect Mondays). This place is very quiet and concurrently in centre of the town.
If you like animals, you can go to zoological garden in Olomouc. This ZOO is situated in town quater Svatý Kopeček, where you can find Basilica Minor too. Bazilica Minore is very historical building. Saint John Paul II., the pope, visit this basilica in 1995. And when the weather conditions are great, you can see Olomouc from this place.
