Completely agree with you about solo travel.
There is also a saying in Sanskrit to that effect:
केल्याने देशाटन, पंडिता सहवास ||
मनुजा येतसे, चातुर्य फार ||
meaning traveling and the company of the knowledgeable makes a person wise and intelligent.
And then there is also a famous one in Hindi:
सैर कर दुनिया की गाफिल, जिन्दगानी फिर कहाँ।
जिन्दगानी गर रही तो, नौजवानी फिर कहाँ ।।
meaning travel while you are young, for youth will not remain forever.
