This post is an update on the Top 100 Photo Views leaderboards post of April, 2022 and is about the Local Guide photo contributions on Google Maps. As well as rankings of photo views, it’s about sharing and learning about the views that these photos achieve.
All Local Guides can participate:
And no you don’t have to be a “top gun” Level10 Local Guide with a mega million views! The leaderboards have been specifically designed so that Local Guides at any level can participate, and you’ll see many do. So, whether you’re an entry level Local Guide or from a small town or village, or a top level Local Guide from London, New York, Paris or New Delhi, you can join in and it’s simple to do! To learn more about the leaderboards, hit this link and to jump on board, use this link.
Is this just a competition?
While there is an inherent competitive element within them, the aim of these leaderboards is to motivate us, help us to monitor our contributions and performance, and show us how to improve and make better contributions so that we achieve better results, all in a fun and enjoyable way! If this can be done then these leaderboards will have achieved their objective, their mission will be accomplished!
Conclusion
These leaderboard posts are more than just seeing who has the best photos or the most photo views, far from it! Being able to look at our photo performance in different ways as well as in relative terms to that of other Local Guides and our peers in a fun and friendly way, these posts show us how we can improve our personal contributions, improve the quality of being a Local Guide, and thus lead to better quality information on Google Maps; it really is a win-win-win. 1 - Top 100 Photo Views by Country Leaderboard - All participating Local Guides (June, 2022)
When it comes to the Top 100 Local Guides leaderboards, I’ve always tried to create a level playing field and, as described here in the leaderboard documentation, this is why I have top 100 leaderboards for each of the different Local Guide levels. We need to also recognize that bigger cities like London, New York, Paris and Delhi, have more potential Points of Interest (POIs) to review and take photos of, and some very popular POIs like the Eiffel Tower or the Statue of Liberty which would attract significantly more views.
It follows therefore, that Local Guides in these larger cities would have greater opportunities for making Maps contributions, both reviews and photos, and would likely more easily gain more points and views than Local Guides in the smaller cities, towns and villages. While it is not possible here on Connect for the top 100 leaderboards to drill down into different cities, towns and villages, I thought at least we should have a leaderboard of top 100 photo views by country, and this is what the following leaderboard is about.
8 - The exclusive Billion Photo Views Club (June, 2022)
I say that anyone with a BILLION views needs to be specially highlighted on these leaderboards and this is what the Billion Photo Views Club is all about. The leaderboard shown below lists the Local Guides participating here with a BILLION+ photo views on Google Maps as at 8 June, 2022
It’s just amazing to think that anyone can get a BILLION views on their photo contributions but there you have it, you can and just think, you don’t have to be a Level 10 Local Guide to be in this club!!! Local Guides in this group have certainly helped a lot of people using Maps and give us all some idea of the amazing potential we all have when we make photo contributions.
How did these amazing Local Guides achieve this? Well I’ve worked it out and in my opinion it’s really simple!! Learn and think about the photos you take and just keep taking them, one click at a time. And that’s exactly how you and I are going to join this club. We know where we want to get to and we now know how to do it Wishing you all well.
A BIG congratulations to @jayasimha78 who is the latest entrant to this very exclusive club. Read on to see who is most likely to be next!
9 - Top 100 Photo Views Leaderboard, All participating Local Guides (June, 2022)
The leaderboard below shows the top 100 photo views ranking of all participating Local Guides as at 8 June, 2022 and follows on from the previous equivalent leaderboard posted on 8 April, 2022. The leaderboards immediately following this show this overall leaderboard broken down into individual leaderboards for each Local Guide level so that you can see and compare your photo views achievements relative to Local Guides at your level. Briefly this is what you need to know about this and each of the following leaderboards in this post.
enclosing sequence numbers indicate Local Guides who joined the leaderboards since 15 January, 2022
An * against a Connect Username indicates that the Local Guide is a Connect Moderator.
Double asterisks (**) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Googler.
If there are any errors or if you are not listed but think that you should have been then mention this in a comment on this post.
Selecting any of the Connect Usernames will take you to that Local Guide’s Connect Profile.

10 - Top 100 Average Views per Photo Leaderboard - All participating Local Guides (June, 2022)
In this leaderboard, the photo views achievement of participating Local Guides is shown in the order of average views per photo. The essential idea here is that the average views per photo gives a good overall single measure of the quality of a Local Guide’s photo contribution on Google Maps; the higher the average views per photo, the higher the overall quality of a Local Guide’s Google Maps photos. Of course this is an average figure and there can be problems with averages but still I think it’s a nice simple way of looking at the overall quality of our photo contribution on Google Maps. What’s really interesting from this leaderboard is that some Local Guides show much better average views per photo than Local Guides at higher Local Guide levels! For example, I’m a Level 10 Local Guide yet there are many Local Guides at lower LG levels that are out performing me!
If we accept that the average views per photo gives a good overall measure of a Local Guide’s photo contributions on Google Maps then one way to improve your overall photo performance is to have less but better quality photos: the more views you have for a smaller number of photos will result in a higher average views per photo and a good way to achieve this is to have less but better quality photos for each review.
I’m really impressed @AdamGT by your hardwork , you really do a great job , I saw many names of my friends here and i promise you all that I will work hard to see my name in this list soon .
We chatted about your amazing photo views in the commentary here, only a few days ago when talking about the Billion Photo Views club. You will recall I asked you if the numbers you were quoting were right. I have to ask, did you properly check your you stats in the April Top 100 Photo Views Leaderboards? Your Likes indicate that you did however, I’m sorry to say, I have my doubts!
The reason why I ask is that in just 2 months you have made a ten-fold increase in photo views. If this is correct then I have to say you indeed have made a remarkable improvement! Let me know!!!
Hi @AdamGT I did screw up my numbers for April , I did mention it in this post
I know you have a lot on your plate and you probably forgot about it but my April post was off by 400,000 It was my fault( i’m the dummy) I rectified in later April but you had already posted leaderboards . Hope this clears it up
Oh dear, yes I do have thousands of things on the go @TerryPG but now I do remember your error. I can’t fix the historical leaderboards because as you can imagine the ripple effect would take me hours of work through. However, because your history in the database will be screwed up (Data Analysis ), I’m happy to fix this if you can refresh my memory with the correct or approx figure. Let me know if you are happy with this!
