Many Local Guides share their points achievements in individual posts here on Connect’s Achievements board, a board specifically set up to brag about this and other achievements. However, as many Local Guides have found, there are advantages to participating in and sharing your Maps contribution achievements collectively in the Top 100 Local Guides Points Leaderboards post.
No different to the Achievements board, you get the opportunity to brag about your points achievements and there’s the inherent competitive and fun element to this, but there’s more here than meets the eye! You see, the leaderboards are more than just about rankings of Local Guides! Here are just some of the benefits of participating:
You get a much better and easier comparative analysis of your points achievements with your peers, that is, Local Guides at your own Local Guide level.
You can gain a way to better monitor and chart the progress of your contributions over time.
You have access to a deeper analysis of your points achievements, and
As @Trail_blazer has recently shown here, you can quickly gain an as-you-go health check that can highlight issues with your contributions.
And, you don’t have to be a “top gun” Level 10 Local Guide with millions of points to participate! There are leaderboards for each Local Guide level so anyone can join in and yes, you can too and it’s simple to do, just hit this link to register or if you want to know more then see this How-to post by @AZ_2021.
Briefly, this is what you need to know about the leaderboards in this post. For more details see the leaderboard documentation:
The leaderboards present details about the Local Guide points of hundreds of participating Local Guides from all over the world. As well as an overall leaderboard ranking the top 100 Local Guides by points, you will see leaderboards for different Local Guide levels which lend themselves to better comparisons of your points achievement with your peers.
Where shown, around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this is the first time that the Local Guide has participated on the Top 100 leaderboards.
An asterisk (*) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Connect Moderator.
Double asterisks (**) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Googler.
A ? or the words “Not set” in a cell indicates that the respective value hasn’t been provided by or cannot be determined for the respective Local Guide.
Selecting any of the Connect Usernames will take you to that Local Guide’s Connect Profile.
Local Guides included in the leaderboards must check their entries for any errors. If you should find any errors or omissions, please add the details in a comment on this post. Regarding omissions, please note point 5 above.
We had 72 new registrants in April and those listed below made it onto the May points leaderboards. We all hope that you enjoy the fun and friendly competitive side of the leaderboards while at the same time learning how to improve the quality of your contributions and the reach and impact that they have on your community.
Each of these events impact on the makeup of the points leaderboards and the position of many Local Guides on them. You can learn more about the different ways that new participants and leaderboard jumpers can impact on your position on the leaderboards in the documentation here. Were you impacted?
This is my first post at local guide community…after almost 4 years of account suspend suffer now I reconnect starting of April…I don’t know about leader board criteria…so I attached my achievements as screen shot…I just want to know is there any process for my side to get chance to come in leader board? Or its automatically system generated?
Participation on leaderboards is not automacally because is an iniciative of @AdamGT that have a lot of advantages for interested local guides. In order to be part of it, just hit this link to register. You need to choose a specific date of the month to send the info of your contributions to generate historical data and you could get access to individualized graphs and charts about your contributions.
I recommend to introduce yourself with the community in the specific post of this month: Introduce Yourself — May 2023
and continue to explore the boards of Connect to interact with local guides of all the world. Always include @+ user name of the person you are talking to in your comments, This way they can get a notification about your response or comment.
Enjoy Connect and let us know if you have any doubt about your register un the Top 100 LG system.
This Movers & Shakers board is a great addition, @AdamGT . Now we really turn up the heat to get active.
I’m surprised that I’m not seeing more folks from the TRAC Campaign on here ( @jayasimha78 is knocking it out of the park) . Since @SholaIB and @LovePathak28 have added hundreds of roads over the last month at 15pts a piece, they could be sitting right at the top!
It’s great to see that you have come out of suspension and that you are interested in the Top 100 Leaderboards. As @LightRich kindly mentioned, joining is not automatic and you need to participate you need to register using this link. To learn more see this How-to post by @AZ_2021.
We all look forward to seeing you on the June leaderboards.
Yes the Movers and Shakers has been reincarnated @LightRich and now that you have mentioned it, although a little out of date, I must update their mention in the documentation here. Now you ask a good question about this new leaderboard, so let me try to explain.
Firstly, yes there were some Local Guides that failed to update in April or didn’t do so before the end of the month and in time for the May leaderboards. That’s a simple one to explain and understand.
Secondly there were 72 new registrants in April that are not included in the Movers and Shakers simply because they did not have a prior month history. If we didn’t exclude them then most new Local Guides above level 7 would have appeared at the top of the Movers & Shakers leaderboard. That’s also a fairly simple one to explain and understand.
Finally, and this is the more difficult to explain and understand, the remainders will be those that updated in April but did not do so in March. I exclude them because their Delta Points would be across more than one month and this would unfairly distort the idea behind the Movers & Shakers which looks at the points movement (i.e. the delta points) in one month.
So in summary, the Movers & Shakers leaderboard only includes those who regularly update and have done so over the last month. It’s all about creating that level playing field and comparing apples with apples.
You are funny @MAHMOUDALWAN . Yes we still exist and you are at #62 in the overall and level 10 leaderboards, and given you are out there guiding as indicated by your at #27 in the Movers & Shakers leaderboard, I think you are quite safe!
If it should ever happen that we can fall off the leaderboards but even if this happens, it doesn’t mean that we stop updating our data (see the Final comment here).
