Top 100 Google Maps Local Guides Points (September, 2026)

Great minds think alike @tony_b. I’m so busy adding new features that I forget about some of the existing T100 features so I thank @curatorofmemory for reminding both of us about core vitals.

The big drop pattern seems to be typical of most of our core vitals profiles Anthony, it’s where the curve starts that clearly indicates where our emphasis guiding area.

Your analysis of roads vs answers is interesting, especially where you say " With only a 1 in 7 chance of getting a Road approved for 15 points, it is better to do daily batches of Answers that don’t need approvals and receive guaranteed points." Nonetheless, thinking about it, I’ve noticed that most of the recent meteoric rises in points has been by roaders.

Yes that’s probably correct @AdamGT. I got a big boost when I started doing Roads. But we go through periods where the approval rate is slow (currently around 14%), so that means that for every 100 roads I draw, only 14 get approved, and approvals may take a few weeks to come rhrough.

In comparison, nearly every uploaded photo is instantly accepted, but I don’t upload as many photos as some of the other high-performing LGs. Answers are the only type of contribution that is instant and doesn’t need approval.

@tony_b . With photos it is tricky. Sometimes they are not approved and yet you get tge points. So you loose on average views. Why not acceted? Only Algorithm knows. Many a times it happens with reviews as well esp if POI is ery popular. You get a strange automated response- there is nothing wrong about the review but system is not allowing it to be published. 10% of my reviews and photos are hidden. Why? Algorithm knows:grin:

@curatorofmemory, I try to keep track which of my photos are hidden and if I am sure, nothing is wrong with it (e.g. a recognizable faces, redundant or duplicate photos … etc), I submit the appeal form, which did work in most cases. Just make sure to do so as soon as possible, after recognizing the photo was hidden.

I check the numbers of hidden contributions daily. An easy way is using @AdamGT’s Top100 Data Entry → Maps Data+:

You can run it as many times you want - not only at the end of the month. However, identifying each single hidden photo is more tricky and cumbersome :sad_but_relieved_face:

In some older posts on Connect, I read something similar to “if you are below 10% you are fine, but a higher percentage can cause the filter to be more rigid for your future contributions”. So, better watch your hidden photos!
