Toolbar missing when writing a post here on Connect

Hi Everyone,

I’m using my Android phone with the chrome browser to read and write posts here on Local guides connect.

When writing a new post the editor looks like this;

Notice the toolbar at the top: RITCH TEXT - HTML - PREVIEW. This is all good.

But when I try to reply to an existing thread it looks like this:

There is no toolbar in sight. It looks like it is shown on my screen for a micro second and then the text input field kind of covers it.

I would like to use the toolbar also when replying to an existing discussion.

Please help me - or is it a known bug.

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

I am replying to your post from mobile, and the toolbar is ok for me

I know some command is missing, Google is working on it, but I can see the toolbar.

I am tagging here @AngieYC for a check.

Have you tried to clear the cache?

Hi @ErmesT , Thanks for always being ready and willing to help. I tried clearing the cache. Force stop. Remove unnecessary data and restart of Chrome. And the problem persists. I can’t insert pics without the toolbar. Took screen shots to prove that my system and chrome is fully updated. Can upload from other platform if needed, @AngieYC .

Hello @MortenCopenhagen .

First of all we would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused and as mentioned by @ErmesT we are currently still working on the toolbar editor.

Related to your issue, have you try to click reply in different post and does the same issue still persist?

In addition to that, please check if there’s some update needed on your Google Chrome browser. Because I tried on two different android devices and couldn’t replicate your issue, as you can see on the image below.

@AngieYC Thanks a million for your help on this.

Here is proof that I use the latest version of android AND Chrome:

This is Chrome app :

Also I recorded a 3 sec screen video to show how the toolbar pops up and disappears in a split second. Find it here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QBo4LM1xpyNHo2yW8 Sorry about the spooky audio.

I tried to reply to more posts and threads - and no toolbar to be used anywhere except when I start a new thread.

Cheers.

Hello @MortenCopenhagen ,

Thank you for the additional information.

Since we couldn’t replicate the issue, could you keep an eye on it and if until tomorrow the same issue still occurs, please let me know.

Thanks again @AngieYC . I restarted my phone and the problem persists. Also I would like to say that it has been like this for more than a week. It takes a while before I’m frustrated enough to complain :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. I will try my old Android phone and report back. This phone is a Huawei P30 pro.

@AngieYC , this is Morten from my older Huawei P9 Lite phone. Now it gets interesting. When I first tried to test and reply from this phone the tool bar was shown. But somehow I had to start the reply again and now the toolbar is gone on this phone also. Here is a pic to prove the latter. Ohh no. Without the tool bar there is no way to add a picture… Latest. I needed to correct a spelling mistake and WHAT. The toolbar is now showing. Hmmmnnn. Here is the pic

Testing on my IPad. No problems here. As expected I guess.

Hello @MortenCopenhagen ,

Could you try to open it on a different browser and please let me know if you’re still facing the same issue.

Testing on my Huawei P30 Pro using a fresh Firefox browser. No toolbar is shown here on my first reply. @AngieYC

Testing on my Huawei P30 Pro using a fresh Opera browser. No toolbar is shown here on my first reply. @AngieYC

Still an issue today, @AngieYC .

Hey @MortenCopenhagen ,

We have send your query to the team responsible for dealing with issues tied to Connect. They confirmed that they can find no UI problems on their end.

We have also tested this on our side on multiple devices and were not able to reproduce the issue you are experiencing.

Unfortunately the conclusion is that this is related to the device you are currently using and we are not able to suggest additional troubleshooting steps apart from what we already suggested.

Thanks for trying @GeorgesHR and @AngieYC

Please not it is not just one device but two devices that consistently has this problem.

I found a usable workaround that others who might experience the same problem can choose to use; use the Request desktop site and there the tool bar is visible. But also all text is a lot smaller.

Thanks again for your efforts.

Hi all. Let’s terminate this thread now. The problem is over on my side. If others experience it I think it was solved by going to settings and set the default editor to Rich Text.

All the best.
