Tomb of Lal Khan Varanasi.

Tomb of Lal Khan Varanasi Uttar Pradesh India.

Kashi is famous as a city of pilgrimage. It is also known for its monuments. One such magnificent, elegant and classy monument is the tomb of Lal Khan. It’s out of the sight of mostly tourists, but tourists remain surprised to see this splendid monument. There is an interesting true story associated with this tomb.

Tomb of Lal Khan is a centrally protected monument situated on the left bank of holy Ganga. Near Malviya Bridge, Rajghat area adjacent to the NH 35, GT Road. It’s also nearby to the Archaeological excavation site which is not open for tourists. It was built by the Kashi Naresh in 1773 AD. He was a brave, trusted and courageous Army Commander in the Kashi’s Army. He contributed a lot in extension and development of Kashi with remarkable heroism. In last days of his life Kashi Naresh asked him about his wish, inturn he said that he would love to see the gateway of Royal Palace even after his death. Kashi Naresh fulfilled his wish and he built a magnificent mausoleum at Rajghat, Varanasi. Thus the King of Kashi fulfilled his promise.

This spectacular Tomb is situated at the centre of a nicely landscaped rectangular garden. Each corner of the garden is having an octagonal canopy built by red stone. Main Tomb is quite magnificent built in Islamic architectural style which is inspired by Mughal Architecture. Main tomb is built on a raised square platform. Outer walls are arched structures in which the central arch is comparatively higher. Main dom is having octagonal base at roof top and all the four corners are having decorated stones canopies. Blue, yellow tile works is excellent and there are many other decorative structural elements which makes this tomb quite unique. It has two doors and having two more graves as main grave below the main central dome is of brave warrior Lal Khan who was very much loyal to the Kashi’s King and who served to Kashi till his last breath.
It’s a fascinating monument and I am sure visitors won’t be disappointed.

Hi

Thank you for your concern and advice. I am not over tagging at all except whom I am addressing. Why such reminder to me only, I don’t understand. As this practice I have already stopped once it was made an issue. Anyway thanks.
