In January 2020, we were divided and today we met again for the first time in a year and a half .
Following the 1920 Belgian Antwerp, the Olympics took on a cautious and delicate challenge. 100 years ago, it was a double disaster of an unscientific pandemic and World War. Now we have more control than that time.
The match on the first day was held in Hokkaido, Miyagi, Fukushima and Tokyo. This video is a soccer field in Miyagi prefecture just before the start.
Most venues are closed to spectators due to epidemics, but Miyagi is open to the public. (Miyagi is one of the cities with the lowest infection rate in Japan.) This is the limit that Local Guides who are not Olympic volunteers can cover.
Now we have met again for the first time in a long time. let’s have fun! Get a moment of exciting rest in your year and a half of difficulties. You witness the evolution of the human body in front of the television under the beautiful scenery of our Japan :person_playing_handball::weight_lifting_man::biking_man::person_cartwheeling:
Caution: If you want to watch it live, be sure to get the official information. There are already fraudulent websites on the internet. Google continues to clear site searches, but there are numerous malicious websites outbreaks.
Hello @davidhyno , always thank you!
Yes, I also want to update as a local guide. However, due to epidemic prevention, coverage is limited to date. This time, there are plenty of internet LIVE distributions, so you can watch the game as easily as if we were staying in Japan!
That’s great @YasumiKikuchi , I thought all venues were closed to the public.
I remember that in the closing ceremony of Rio 2016 they were saying that Tokyo 2020 would have an artificial meteor shower, Do you know if it is going to happen?
Hello @LaloPadilla , thank you for your reply!
In Miyagi, a city of 2 million people, the number of infected people per day is limited to around 10, so spectators were admitted specially. However, most of the other venues are closed.
The content of the opening ceremony on the 23rd is also kept secret for us Japanese. Please look forward to it on the day!
Hello @Nyainurjanah , thank you for your reply!
We know that your country is trying to overcome great difficulties. Let us get the courage from sports this summer!
Glad to see the event eventually taking place @YasumiKikuchi , although of course not quite the way the Japanese population had figured it would be when Tokyo was awarded the 2020 Games! And thanks from bringing the 1920 event in Antwerp in remembrance (as it happens, I just piblished a Recap post about a Meetup we held their last weekend).
I especially look forward (together with a lot of other people in Belgium) to the cycling races on Saturday (road race) and Wednesday (time trial) as there is an realistic chance that some medals there will end up around Belgian necks. What’s your favorite sports?
Thanks for sharing @YasumiKikuchi ! It must be a really exciting experience being near those stadiums.
I’m not such a fan of sports myself but I love that little by little, these worldwide events give us a little normality after a chaotic 2020.
Many incredibly hardworking and talented athletes are representing my country in different disciplines as well! Hope they come back safe and triumphant
Hello @JanVanHaver , thank you for your reply!
Antwerp 1920 is important in talking about the difficulties of TOKYO2020. It was held in the midst of fierce pros and cons at that time as well. But it succeeded!
Like you, I’m paying attention to cycling! Recently, I have just insisted on the activation of map information about bicycles as a commuter.
Hello @kroza , thank you for your reply!
I rarely watch sports, but I’m a particularly enthusiastic fan of the Olympics. Perhaps I’m paying attention to the festival, which brings together people from all over the world. I think that the realization of peace will be realized only when people all over the world meet.
Hello @ksyfullah07 , Thank you for your reply!
As you say, it’s a shame that the spectators can’t really watch the game. However, on the other hand, it is announced that it will be a video that you can enjoy the evolution of the camera! Look forward to TV!
Really looking forward to the Games, always do, but for some reason even more so this time - it is obviously such a shame that there will be no (or very very few) spectators, but hopefully that will not inhibit the athletes to give their all and go for gold
Hello @Mbalecity , thank you for your reply!
With Uganda’s brief attention in Japan, we were able to know the situation in Uganda. I hope your country will do its best!
Hello @Reidyboy , thank you for your reply!
I certainly agree that the support of the audience will help them.
We considered discontinuing the program many times, but overcame it with various modifications. It’s a bruised Olympics, but we’re happy to offer them an opportunity!
