The most iconic food you can try in Japan is the "Dango" and the “Daifuku.” Both are made from “Mochi,” a glutinous rice cake. Think warm, sticky, and gooey. Light and sweet textures. These go perfectly with tea(s). The best ones are served here at this restaurant. They go well with teas! These treats can be enjoy all over Japan.
Next up, Salmon and rice cake! This is a regional lunchbox from Niigata, Prefecture and it is famed for having a whole salmon on top of rice and bamboo. Excellent vinegar aftertaste that goes very well with cold beer.
Below is a lovely healthy lunch box with purple Genmai rice and vegetables. One mild jalepeno tucked away in the back.
Seasoned slabs of pork across rice shishito peppers is divine. Love the lunch boxes in Japan.
This is a super deluxe bento above with shredded eggs on top with a lotus.
All star A5 beef lunchbox bento with high grade rice and marbled beef. Cold tea.
These last two pictures there’s another salmon lunchbox. These are very nice and as you can tell I love fish.
Lastly, there are tons of goodies and treats to try here, and it’s almost impossible to try all of them, but if you stick with the train bentos, you’ll definitely get a taste of the regionality of Japan. Every prefecture has its own unique food dish. This is just a first step.
