Today the most important or significant event is celebrated every year in India or also some other countries like Nepal, Bhutan topay respect to all the teachers (Spiritual or Religious Teacher, Vedic Teacher, School teacher, College or University teacher) who have definitely contributed tremendously to the society & the nation. Their contribution is totally infinite & hence it can’t be expressed or bounded in some words. Let’s Celebrate the Guru Purnima & offers our prayers
to our guru’s or teacher.
Guru Purnima is a religious festival dedicated to offering respect to all the spiritual and academic gurus of Ancient & Modern India. It is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Ashadha (June–July) according to the Hindu Calendar. It is also known as Vyasa Purnima, for it marks the birthday of Veda Vyasa, the great legend who write great epic "Mahabharata " & also Vedas. This festival has great importance in 3 major Religions Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism.
Hinduism
To pay respect to Maharshi Veda Vyasa for his incredible teaching & Creation of great texts. And also to celebrate his birthday today.
Buddhism
To pay Respect to Gautam Buddha & his great teachings.
Jainism
On this day, Mahavira, after attaining kaivalya, made Gautama Swami his first disciple or ganadhara thus becoming a treenok huha himself.
In India it is always said & believe that
गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः। गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमःll
The teacher is Brahma, the teacher is Vishnu, the teacher is God, the teacher is Maheshwara. The teacher is directly the Supreme Brahman, to whom I offer my obeisances

The importance given to Guru Purnima in North India is not there in the South India, unfortunately.
Your brief & very valuable explanation of Guru Purnima in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism - loved it so much - crisp clear.

Great post @MrAdityaKumar our scriptures have greatly
glorified the significance of a guru in one’s spiritual life.
Bhagavad Gita 4.34: "Only through a Guru you can understand the Vedas.
No matter how great the sadhak (devotee) is he will only attain moksha when there’s gurus grace.
Happy guru poornima!!
