Today I made Chickpea Curry and rice

As you all can see today I prepared this dish and thought of sharing it with my lovely local guides. Chickpea also called Chole in India is a widely popular dish in Indian subcontinent. It was cooked in proper Indian style served with steamed rice (also called Chawal in India). It was delicious and tastes even better if you prepare it yourself.?

So here is the step by step guide of cooking Chickpea with Rice or Chole Chawal as called in India. So here it goes:

Step 1: Preparation.

The things required to make the curry are quite simple, I used 1 Onion, 1 Tomato, 2 Garlic, a piece of Ginger, 1 Green Chilli. Chop all these beforehand to make the process easy.

Step 2: Boil Chickpeas

**

**Remember to soak chickpeas 4-5 hours before boiling it as it reduces boiling time. However It is not necessary you can also boil it directly no issue. It is better to have it boiled while you’re cutting veggies.

Step 3: Preparing the base.

Add oil to the pan, first put some Cumins then add chilli, garlic and ginger into it. Stir it for 2-3 mins for it to get little brownish then add onions into it. Stir until it is brownish.

Then finally add finely chopped tomatoes. Stir for 5 mins.

Step 4: Add spices.

Finally when everything is equally cooked its time to add spices. The spices I added are also few and easily available.

  1. A teaspoon Coriander powder
  2. A teaspon Chilly Powder
  3. 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  4. Salt according to taste.

Step 5: The finale

Add boiled chickpeas into the pan. Add water, stir it well so that all the spices gets equally mixed into the curry. For additional taste you can also add Butter to it(I did).

In the end add freshly chopped Coriander for presentation.

On a different pan prepare rice and serve it with the curry.

All this will take approx 30 mins to do.

Well, this is it from my side. Thank you for sparing some time to read it. I hope I was able to serve you well with this post.

Thank You.?

Hello @Kanhav_Mulasi ,

Thank you for sharing this recipe with us, it looks very delicious and easy to do!

Do you often cook this meal? Are there any variations available, things that could be added?

PS: I might try to prepare this meal for lunch today.

@BorrisS Thank you, yes I often cook this meal. You can also make a paste of all the ingredients that I have mentioned (onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, green chilly) instead of frying them on the pan.

1)boil chickpea,

2)add oil to the pan,

3)add some cumins then

  1. add that paste

  2. fry it for 3 mins

  3. add boiled chickpeas

  4. add water

Then let it boil in for 5 min on high flame and for another 5 min in low flame so that chickpea get all the flavours of it.

I hope it helped.
