To Edit, Or Not To Edit?

Hi, all! ☼

My name is Ashleigh and I’m from the United States. I have been a Local Guide for about a year and while my reviews are thorough, I am ashamed to admit that I do not take enough (if any) photos of the locations I go! Now that I am getting into the habit of capturing my adventures, I want to know - should I edit my photos, and if so, how drastic?

Any and all tips are greatly appreciated! ❀

Nicely said, friend! I will keep your thoughtful words in my mind

Hi @ashleigh-argyle

A small edit is ok, e.g. for giving a bit of more saturation, but without retouching the photo. I normally upload the photos without any edits. In Google maps we are showing the places as they are

Hello friend -

Excellent point! Thank you for your advice

@ashleigh-argyle Recently I have started using Google photos. I just use the ‘Auto’ nothing else. And it automatically lightens up the photo. And if necessary then I crop it. I think we should not edit images drastically to make it look good. We should present a location to the users the way it really is.

Hope this help. If you find it helpful then mark it as a solution by clicking the “Accept as Solution” option. Any question is always more than welcome.

Well, I think everyone will find this post helpfull. I missed at first, 3 tips for editing your photos using your phone
