Tisan Island. A hidden Gem in Turkey.

Tisan Island is a place located near Silifke which is a town of Mersin City. The area has many ancient buildings from Roman Empire and Hellen. Tisan Island is only a litlle part of this ancient area. For anybody who is inteserted in visiting these places, I will go on posting with the photos. By the way, sorry for the quailty of the photos. İt will be better for future posts:)) Please feel free to ask questions about this topic in the comments section. I will do my best.

History of Tisan Island

The Cilician Aphrodisias, ancient city Pityussa, is located near the Tisan region. The ancient island city has established close trade relations with Cyprus, Egypt, Aphrodisias, Komardias, Holmi and Seleukeia.

In time, the stones in the ruins were removed by the people of the region to be building materials. For this reason, there is not much structure left today. The ancient mosaics in the Tisan region contain a church whose floor mosaics are still selectable as a residential area dedicated to Aphrodite. It dates back to the 7th century BC.
