For me, what I love most about sharing on Google Maps are my experiences. ?
And more than sharing, what makes me really happy is knowing that the reviews, pictures, edits, new places added, ratings that I’ve done are actually helping people. I love to receive those “report emails” from the Google Maps team showing my content is making a difference and being seen by thousands of people! ?
I like to share the “classic” food photos of the restaurants that I get to know and enjoy, as this Thay place called Lagundri in my hometown that serves some tasty stuff:
But it goes beyond that: I care to include in my contributions, tips that will really help who is consulting it. Like “this place is better to visit on Sundays” or “remember to buy the tickets online to avoid the huge lines to enter here”:
This I consider one of the most important part of the community: by our own adventures, we can share with everyone what/where/how they can take the most advantages and avoid some undesirable problems.
And it connects to another important (for me and, I believe, to my local community) aspect on being a Local Guide: where I live (Campinas, São Paulo - Brazil) there aren’t many people really connected. They used to use Google Maps, do some ratings, but it’s about it. I tried already a few time here in Local Guides forum to engage the people, but without much success. I continue to try building this engagement by talking to my friends in person about the platform and keeping improving it with my contributions.
That’s it: I will continue to share my experiences with food, sightseeing, fixing what I found on the map and hoping that it will continue to help as many people as possible.
Cheers!?
