Sharing is one of the most distinguished qualities that I have, I like helping others and let them know something that I have experienced, especially when I discover by myself another way to do something with a lower cost or with simple effort or strategy.
So, by using Maps, I could practice the quality of sharing that I have.
This local story is an opportunity to have a gift from me, and it is “TIPS FOR TRIPS”
A journey, a business voyage or just a domestic trip are opportunities which we need to get the maximum profit of them.
It is hard to say “Oh, no! I forgot to bring something!”, or to say, “I should have visited some places before coming back!”.
When you want to travel keep in mind that your journey is about three stages:
1- The first one is before travelling where you need to prepare your luggage:
The second one is during your travel where you must achieve the reason for your trip:
- If you do regular trips, you should make your personal checklist, and to keep it in mind give to your checklist a name and each letter of this name means something to do.
My personal checklist is called “PIGS”:
- “P” for phone: make sure that you bring your phone and it could work especially when you leave your country by checking the roaming service.
- “I” for your ID card (refer to personal ID or passport): you need to bring copies of your ID card, so if it gets stolen or lost you will be able at least to prove your citizenship. An electronic copy is also very useful.
- “G” for Guidebook that include a map of your destination. Moreover, you can download some apps.“S” for snacks: eating in a foreign place can sometimes become a task. So, bring small snacks that will tide you over until you find your restaurant or your food.
When you rich your destination, you must focus on the reason of your traveling. If you travel to get a rest, try to avoid checking frequently your business emails or answering all kind of calls.
As a tourist in a foreign place, I advise you to follow those tips:
- Empty your wallet of unnecessary items; usually you need just your ID card and enough money per a day
- Learn key phrases in the local language, like “thank you”, “good morning.” Or some words about your food’s preference or transportation. If you do not feel comfortable with your language abilities, then cheat and print out a document that you can carry with you. Alternatively, you can use your phone to translate
- Wear comfortable clothes, especially if you prefer walking
- Do not be shy, it is very useful to meet locals and get more information from them. You can just smile and be open to people, you may end up meeting some lifelong friends
- Wake up earlier if you want to explore more places and walk around, you can also use buses or tramways
3- The last stage is when you are back home where you need to consolidate your experience:
When you decide to come back home, as well as you did to plan your first day before traveling, plan your last day before coming back.
When you get home from a trip, sort and caption your pictures while your memories are still fresh. In addition, if you have benefited from the wisdom of other travelers in the past, consider paying it forward by writing about your own journey. Do not forget also to keep in touch with everyone you meet during your trips.
Traveling is not just a simple action, but it often seems like a series of to-do lists to success each stage of your trip, from the pre-trip planning process (preparing documents and luggage, check your money and gadgets) to selecting the activities you want to experience once you arrive in your destination. And after you get home, you need to do other actions to consolidate this experience.
