Lets start a discussion on the current state of tipping here in the US. Let’s be civil and not resort to name-calling, please.
I’ll start: my take is this - I have stopped eating out because I can’t stand the culture any longer.
The employers underpay the staff and make the diners pay their salaries! I say increase the pay and let the prices of the food fall where they may, and finally end this tipping madness.
My gut tells me that the “low pay, low price” mantra is just a ploy by the employers to have an excuse to give less than appropriate pay.
