Just a few minutes west of the capital Dili in Timor-Leste is an amazing place to go snorkeling and diving. Named after the three lakes south of the coast, it is a stretch of sandy beach with a very gradual slope into the water. Once under the surface you will find a sandy bottom with small coral patches which are homes to a number of neat plants and animals. Some of the characters you will find are seahorses and frogfish like the ones below. If you are very lucky you may run into a dugong mother with her baby. The site also offers a whole new set of animals at night. Some of these, like the bobtail squid and the moon snail, burrow into the sand during the day but come out at night to feed. You can see more interesting critters from Tasi Tolu in this album. Enjoy !!

I know that Komodo is a great place for snorkeling and diving, but it’s the first time that I hear about Timor-Leste. So thank you @Nick-Hobgood for sharing and for introducing me to this amazing spot, which I can now add to my Snorkeling Destinations list.
