Have you ever had the opportunity, to go inside one, inconspicuous and easily passed by on the street place and at the end completely move to another place and reality?
As a Local Guide I could and that’s my story how I moved to New Orleans, Early 19th century.
When I used to live in Munich, I wasn’t sure for how long I will stay there, if it will be only a half a year, year or maybe 4. Although, I promised myself, that every day for me will be a special day and I will do my best to discover this city.
Once, during “as always” lunchtime, I and my friends decided to discover jazz that night. Likely, that Thursday in Munich was the Jazz Festival, so immediately we found the proper place to go. However, in the evening, we realized that we did not take into account that this may be a prestigious event- popular and requires reservations. Of course, we were asked to leave the room before we settled down for good.
Nonetheless, we did not want to give up- today was supposed to be jazz. Thanks to Local Guides we found a recommended place - Mister B.'s.
And it was much easier to find it on the internet than in life. We passed it several times before we succeeded.
Finally, we found an inconspicuous place managed, with a door from the street. As it turned out- green, incredibly small, the size of a room with a huge bar of dark wood with a band that practically played at the door entrance and with full occupancy.
We stuffed ourselves in the only free space, knowingly knowing that this is probably not an evening for us.
But when we breathed after a meaningless chase around the city and the band started playing, we were in a different place. Not in the same city anymore.
The team, one bartender, humming behind the bar (dressed in a white shirt, vest and jacket pants, and the entire outfit finished with a bow tie), crowded people in total silence and we. And music.
Music was everything at the time.
