In Berlin (and I’m sure not only here) it’s not uncommon to see restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops etc closed for weeks or even months during what’s low-season for them or maybe simply because they too want to have a holiday break. The reason can be refurbishing too. For example, see below a photo taken from an ice cream shop window.
Currently one can enter special hours only for well recognized holiday periods. This is not enough to support cases I described. The only way I found to update google maps with the information about the seasonal break is to mark the place as permanently closed and then re-enter it again. Of course that didn’t seem to me to be the right thing to do.
I would love to see a feature allowing to enter start and end dates for a break and also to attach a picture.
I’m actually surprised by the resolution you have offered. I’m a local guide, not an owner. I believe the facts local guides contribute to maps matter and that it wasn’t your intention to prevent local guides to make any kind of fact checking. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Correct, as a local guide, I’d like to be able to provide “special working hours” for a place. In particular I’d like the process to be simplified for longer periods when the place is closed, so for example, if they have a 3 weeks long holiday break, I would prefer to fill in a simple form requiring only 2 fields - start and end day of the break.
For some builds and stores, the schedule change during the years. We can have winter schedule and summer schedule. And I can’t add it on Google Maps, during six month the informations that I have add are false.
I think, add a calendar, where we can add differents timelapses with differents opening times could improve the service.
