This holiday I created some 360 pictures and uploaded them too google maps / streetview. I did this with the app on my phone. When I look the pictures up on my pc the thumbails sometimes are the whole 360 photo, and sometimes the thumbail is good. (difficult too explain so included some screenshots).
Both are made with the same camera (Ricoh 360) and uploaded the same way.
Hi @thijsbekke and @LucioV : I also noticed this…and I think it’s caused by AI implemented in Google Photo! Take for example this photos from Google Maps about The Colosseo in Rome and the Eiffel Tower in Paris : the first one is wide and flat (and therefore most of the photos are displayed horizontally) while the tower is tall and long (and the photos are arranged vertically)! This is what I have seen looking at different photos and asking myself the same questions you have asked yourself! Maybe let’s see if there is even an official explanation from some Googlers …
I did some more searching, and what I found out is the view from your own contributions is different then what other users see. See the screenshot below.
Left is what users see, and right is the overview of my contributions. It is the same 360 picture. So I think I follow @LucioV advice and don’t worry about it so much.
