Thumbnails are easily duplicated double or more.

SV App thumbnails can easily be duplicated on both still images and videos.

The new UI has been available in SV App since the end of last year, and I try to operate with the new UI as much as possible.

The new UI doesn’t seem to be able to correctly determine when the upload is complete. The app often hangs after the upload progress bar reaches 100%.

If I swipe out the SV App and then launch the App, or restart the smartphone and then launch the App again, the thumbnails still exist in the unpublished tabs.
If I upload it, the upload process may resume from the 0% progress display.
Doing this a few times can result in two or more doublings, as shown below.

Note that if the upload process hangs, it does not always double.
A video that hangs with the progress bar at 100% may not appear in the Processed tab after a long wait.
In that case, I think that it really hung in the “unpublished” state.
In other words, removing thumbnails of unpublished tabs to reduce the chance of duplication is too risky.

I guessed the reason was different from [4-0743000031223] on January 9, 2021, so I asked again.

This article was written for the purpose of information only.
I will feedback this symptom from the SV App and also contact SV Trusted Help.
I haven’t requested a moderator to resolve this symptom, but comments are welcome.

I got an answer from SV Trusted Help :

「Regarding the issue you described, our engineers have requested that you reproduce it and submit feedback through the Street View application. This way they will be able to look at the background data and troubleshoot the issue.」

They don’t understand that the trouble still exists because the feedback I’ve sent in the past hasn’t been seriously scrutinized.

I sent additional information as follows, now :

I gave feedback on still images, now.
The details of the symptom are described below.

When I upload a still image, the progress bar will gradually grow to reach 100% and will be displayed as “Published(公開済み)” as shown below.
This “published” orange bar will disappear immediately if the upload process is successfully completed.
However, if something goes wrong, it will remain visible forever, like this.

Even if I return to the previous screen, it will remain displayed as 100% and will not change.

If I upload the next still image from this state, I can create a new state where the upload is not completed, again.
And this disorder can be accumulated multiply without being resolved.

If I cancel the upload by clicking the button marked with “x”, it will return to the “not yet uploaded” state in most cases.
And if I upload the still image again, the upload process from 0% will start again.

However, the first “process that stopped at 100% display” seems to have been uploaded in many cases.
Therefore, by uploading again, this still image will be uploaded twice.

Here is an example of a group of still images that have been uploaded multiple times for that reason.

One group in a series has the coordinates corrected. However, the double uploaded ones are left alone.

This symptom does not occur every time.
In many cases, the upload process for the first upload after launching the SV App is completed correctly.
However, if you then upload a second piece, the chances of this happening are very high.

And even in video processing, as in the case of this still image, there will be situations where uploading is not completed.
I’ve already sent feedback on that case of video, but I haven’t been able to send them detailed information like this report from the feedback form.

Please provide this information to the engineer from SV Trusted Help.

I got a pleasant answer.

「Thank you for the extensive information you have provided.
I’ve got confirmation that our engineers have received your feedback. I have also forwarded everything you shared with us in your email. There is no need to send any other information. We hope that this issue will be resolved in the next update of the Street View application. If you still encounter it after the update, please let us know.」
