Delicious food items with fresh fishes are always served in the boats. Tourists can themselves go for fishing and ask the crew to cook the caught fish for them. The most wonderful moments of the journey is its night stay in the middle of the water. - Athirappally Water Falls.
Athirappally Falls, perhaps, is the highest water falls in Kerala. Water falls from about 100 metre height from a rocky plain. As there is a road parallel to the falls visitors can enjoy both the beginning and the end of it. The place is also noted as it is the abode of thousands of hornbills. The greenery of the thick forest and whiteness of falling water give a fantastic visual experience to the visitors. Water reaches there flowing through Sholayur reserved forest spread in Kerala and Thamil Nadu which means the water is crystal clear. The place is about 50 kelo metre away from the Thrissur town. - Parambikkulam Tiger Reserve.
It is the most remarkable tiger reserve forest in Kerala. Though a tiger reserve, the place has abundance of animals varieties. The river flowing through it gives a very comfortable atmosphere to the creatures there. The very journey to the reserve forest through the mountain valleys is also very interesting. Once reach there, tourists have to board the special vehicles arranged by the Forest Department. This is a very wonderful journey through the hearts of Parambikkulam. In between they can see different kinds of animals feeding there like buffalo, deer, wolf, and even tigers if they are lucky. The tiger reserve situates in Palakkad district of Kerala. - Nilambur.
Though not very important, Nilambur, also, is begun to be counted one of the tourists destinations in Kerala. Not one, but there are many tourist spots in Nilambur. All these spots are on the banks of Chaliyar river, the lifeline of Nilambur. Connolly’s Plot, One of the oldest teak plantations in the world, which is named after H. V. Conolly, the district collector of Malabar during the British rule.
Teak Museum, the world’s first teak museum, gives a wonderful visual experience to the visitors. It is operated by the Kerala Forest Research Institute. Adyan Para Water Falls and Nedungayam are other tourist destinations here.
