Through Java to Bali: 23 days in Indonesia

Last November, I took a 3-week break from work and flew to Indonesia. I had 23 days, but Indonesia is an enormous country, so I decided I should explore the Islands of Java and Bali this time. (Yes, I say “this time” because I plan to go back!)

I flew in to Jakarta on the 31st October. I spent 2 days there, and then began my journey eastward. I was traveling light, and I wanted to keep expenses at a minimum, so I used trains along the way, and stayed at hostels. I met some great people along the way.

I snapped a great number of pictures during this time. I’m not a photographer, by any stretch of the imagination, but some of these pictures turned out to be quite nice.

Hoping that I have captured the beauty of this country in my own small way, I share these photos now, unedited and raw off my phone — editing just happens to be one other exercise I have no knack for.

This is Java and Bali through my eyes.

Thanks, @IrrPavlova ! In fact, I was hoping to write something, along with pictures, about the volcanoes I saw. Will do that some time next week, thanks a lot for the suggestion!

Thanks, @PaDeSSo ! I’m keen to explore Sumatra and Borneo next time. Then there’s Gili Islands, Komodo, Papua and so much more. I think I will have to take several more trips, and I’ll gladly do that

23 days ??..Many days

What did you do during in Indonesia? And why you chose this country, not Thailand? ;D

@duenbenz 23 days is a lot of time, yes  I wanted an extended break.

I travelled eastward from Jakarta, crossed over to Bali, then to Nusa Penida, and back.

Why not Thailand? Well, a couple of reasons. I have been there already with my family (only to Bangkok, though, and I’m hoping to come back to visit the other parts of the country.) Indonesia is a lot cheaper (including flight tickets and accommodation) and Sri Lankan citizens don’t require visa to visit. I was basically looking for an easy, relaxed trip, so I chose Indonesia

I assume you’re from Thailand? Which places in Thailand do you recommend that I visit?

Place to go in Thailand ?..it s depending on what kind of activities you want. If you need trekking , climbing or ancient place…I recommend you to go to North and North East of Thailand which city you go you can find all of things like this. If you want to swim, snorkeling, laying down on beach, sun bathing, you can go to East or South part of Thailand. Rafting also can be met in East. For me, easy to travel at East part because not far from BKK, my city. But I don’t like crowded , so Pattaya not for me. If I recommend you as where like is Koh Kham in Chonburi

I enjoy a lot here, but sometimes may be crowded anyway it s limited of people there and it s big and many spots to see. So you can find some place not much people.

Enjoy…if you are back to Thailand again. @ThamaraKandabada

@duenbenz Thanks a lot for these, really helpful
